Sylvain Vailler was born in Versailles, France in 1967. When he was 14, his family moved to Paris, where Sylvain began visiting museums and developing an interest in painting. He did not take up the brush, however, until many
years later, when he settled in San Francisco.
In his mid-thirties Sylvain began taking art classes at San Francisco City College. Soon he was painting impressionistic landscapes and cottage scenes, using oils and acrylics. Later he would experiment with many media, techniques, and subjects. His most recent work includes a series of African images and a succession of abstracts. All are infused with vibrant color; the abstracts, done by brush and hand, boast a lively texture, as well. |
